Let’s introduce ourselves. My name is Emma and I’m a dog mum to three gorgeous gorgeous (I am biased) dogs. I then need to introduce the real stars of the show, Penny, Frankie and Zara. Frankie is my first dog and he is 6 years old now, he’s the miniature dachshund and is a typical sausage, very loud and loves to start fights with big dogs. Zara is the next to come along and I met her when I met my Boyfriend as he had got her 6 months before we met. Zara is a daddy’s girl through and through, she’s a sproodle and the springer in her means she can run forever and is ball obsessed, the poodle in her means she is too clever for her own good. And last but not least is beautiful Penny we have her for nearly two years and she’s our rescue. Penny had a rubbish start to life as she was used as a breeding dog in a puppy farm, when she came into our life she’d never been in a home, never had a family and never known love (don’t worry this has all changed). She’s now the absolute princess of the household and is the sweetest little angel. I often say she’s my soul dog and is most definitely my little best friend. When Penny came into our lives she had lots of health concerns that we started to tackle and one thing in particular was a horrible skin infection, it’s so bad that she will always have it, however there’s lots we can do to keep it under control. When we found this out I started my mission to make her quite literally comfortable in her own skin and whilst researching how to help I came to realise how bad “typical” dog treats and dog foods were. I decided that she deserved the absolute best so we changed their food and began feeding them whole foods and natural treats. This was a game changer for Penny’s skin and along with her medicated baths made a huge difference. We now don’t use the medicated shampoo as we can keep her skin happy with natural foods, oils and supplements. I then realised that other dogs needed to enjoying these natural treats and whilst they are not the most appealing for us to look at the dogs love them and the stinkier the better! Hounds & Co was then born and we’ve been on this journey ever since meeting so many amazing small brands and so many amazing customers and dogs.
